In 1979, Farrah Fawcett became romantically involved with actor Ryan O'Neal, and they had a son, Redmond, who was born in 1985. In 1994, Fawcett told TV Guide that their relationship had some troubles.

Fawcett ended the relationship after she caught him in bed with actress Leslie Stefanson in 1997. After their split, O'Neal's daughter, Tatum O'Neal, alleged that he physically abused Fawcett.

"He had a terrible temper and was very violent. He beat her up," she said.

Fawcett and O'Neal rekindled their relationship in 2001.

—… while we´re clearing up misconceptions and maybe not misconceptions. It´s also been said that you´re now seeing Ryan O’Neal and that he was Lee´s best friend and that he introduced you, not introduced you but asked Ryan to take you to dinner one night because you were lonely and the next thing you knew you were both in love.

—This part of my life is so special to me and so magical and emotional. I can´t talk about…

—You´re happy though.

—I´m happy and I’m sad and I cry and I laugh. And everything all at once. I have so much growth right now that it is like I’m bursting.

—Are you in love?

—Yes, I need to be in love.

Farrah was sweetly evasive. She knew I was pressing her to admit that she was romantically involved with actor Ryan O´Neal who became a star himself in the 1970 film “Love Story”, ironically playing the husband of a woman dying of cancer.

—Yes, I´m in love.

—Ryan called me up and said “Lee said I should call Linda. I said “Lee said you should call…” That´s strange. “I swear to God”. And later Lee said to me, I was talking to him. And I said “Did you tell Ryan he should call?” and he said “Yes, but I never expected him to call.” I said “That´s interesting. I´m going.”

—I hear the issue of getting married or not has come up with Ryan. He has said publicly that he has asked you to marry him.

—He has asked me.

—And you said no.

—I´m considering. It´s a very big step.

—You said in an interview you were very fond of Ryan but that he wanted, sometimes, to take control of your life and you said “He´s not gonna do that. That´s what he wants. Let him find a 21 year-old starlet”. Remember?

—Yes. I don´t want somebody telling me what to do. I don’t want to tell somebody else what to do. So if I don’t want it I deserve not to have it. That´s basically how I feel.

—Does he tell you what to do?

—He´s very strong with his opinions. He doesn’t tell me what to do but he definitely gives his opinion.

—You´re wearing a wedding band.
