Donna
Pescow interpreta a Annette

no correspondida de John Travolta en
el icónico film de los 70´s. En la entrevista de abajo, en inglés, Donna comenta sobre el éxito de la

discoteca.
I don´t think
anybody knew how big it would be…
… Robert
Stigwood wanted to use it as a forum for the Bee Gees and his groups and he was
very much into the music aspect, but there was this wonderful script that would
have been a great film without the music…

Donna
Pescow fue casi considerada "demasiado bonita"
para el papel de Annette. Ella

Actress Donna Pescow ("Annette" from
"Saturday Night Fever") is our Guest
Donna
Pescow habla sobre su acento de Brooklyn – las audiciones
para Fiebre del Sábado por la Noche – el guión – y las fans de John Travolta, entre otras cosas
—… I learned how
to lose my Brooklyn accent to do this speech American standard which sound that
you come from nowhere. When I went to audition for Saturday Night Fever the
casting director said “Are you from Brooklyn or what?” And I said: “Yes, I am.”
And he said “go home, hang up with your family, talk to people and then come
back”, which was a good thing cause I would have lost the role…
—The iconic role
in SNF, how did it come about?
—I had not done
any film. It was the first film. I had done theater, little roles in touring
companies off Broadway. The agent I had at that time, brilliantly, told me
“It´s a little part, in a little movie.” And at the time I don´t think there
was a finished script but I wasn´t at the point of my career where I would have
got the full script anyway. I got a size or pieces they want you to audition
with so I got these pages that didn’t make a lot of sense and it was a lot of
improvisation and they kept calling me back over and over again and then I
found out, I think it was a Friday, that I have got the role and that we
started on a Monday or Tuesday. That was when I read the script. So that was
kind of shock.
—It was a big
part.
—It was a huge
part. I was thrilled but I was completely unaware.
—Were you aware
what was going to become when you were filming it?
—To be a part of
an iconic film is just extraordinary. I don´t think anybody knew how big it
would be. I don´t think you can ever know that and I think at the time it was
kind of an art film that Paramount did it with Robert Stigwood, who wanted to
really use it as a forum for the Bee Gees and his groups and he was very much
into the music aspect, but there was this wonderful script that would have been
a great film without the music and with the music I think everybody thought it
would be successful but not on the level…
—Did you believe
that the whole career of John Travolta would skyrocket and the disco movement
would start from there?
—He had done
Welcome back Kotler and he was a tremendous star from that and we had crazy
time filming because he had thousands of fans that would come out and he had to
give false call sheets so the fans would be in one place and we would actually
be filming in another place because of the crowds were just crazy and loud
which stopped production.
…
—… the
character, Annette, everyone went to school with someone like her. She made the
worst choices. She was a victim of that time…
—Did you have to
learn to dance for that part?
—I was a dancer
but I had never done any disco dancing and many of us had never been in a
disco. Several of us went to a club so as to absorb what was going on…
