The Hunter is a 1980 action crime drama thriller film directed by Buzz Kulik. The film was Steve McQueen's final role before his death in November of that year.

Ralph "Papa" Thorson (Steve McQueen) is a modern-day bounty hunter based in Los Angeles who hunts down and captures criminals who have skipped on their bail to bring them back for a 20% of the reward to his bail bondsman employer.

Thorson drives to Houston where he is to bring in a dangerous punk, named Billie Joe, whose kinfolk include Sheriff Strong, a corrupt redneck lawman who warns Thorson not to get involved. Papa ignores him and ends up in a violent fight with the fugitive, who is so huge, even a beanbag stun gun barely stops him.

Una escena de The Hunter donde Steve McQueen es advertido por el sheriff de no arrestar al sobrino, pues podría tener serias consecuencias.
—I heard a lot about you Mr. Thorson, the whole bad. They tell you I have a glass eye?
—They didn´t.
—It´s the one with the gleam of intelligence. This one. Just look at the two of us, and old sheriff and a bounty hunter. Here… We were just born a century too late, Mr. Thorson. That´s our problem.
—Nothing´s changed. Good guys and the bad guys.
—Maybe. Now. What can I do for you, Mr. Thorson?
—I have a bail to pick up Joe Bale. I´ll take him back to Los Angeles.
—So I hear. My recommendation to you Mr. Thorson is to get out of town.
—Yeah, I will. Tonight.
—I don’t think you understand me, Mr. Thorson. I want you out now. And without this Billie Joe.
—I can´t do that sheriff. Come a long ways. I will take him back with me.
—Oh, no you ain´t.
—Yes, I am.
—Don´t argue with me, Mr. Thorson.
—Look sheriff, I’ve come over15,000…
—Good bye, Mr. Thorson.
—Bye, sheriff.
—Because he´s my nephew, Mr. Thorson. (Transcriptos aprox. 1 minuto.)
