Jacqueline Lee Bouvier (1929 –1994) fue la Primera Dama de los Estados Unidos durante la presidencia de John F. Kennedy y fue considerada como un ícono internacional de estilo y cultura.

Bouvier nació en 1929 en Southampton, Nueva York, hija del corredor de bolsa John Vernou Bouvier III de Wall Street y su esposa, Janet Lee Bouvier. En 1951, se graduó con un Bachelor of Arts en literatura francesa de la Universidad George Washington y trabajó para el Washington Times-Herald como fotógrafa.

En 1952, Bouvier conoció al entonces congresista John Kennedy en una cena en Washington. Kennedy fue elegido para el Senado ese mismo año, y la pareja se casó el 12 de septiembre de 1953 en Newport, Rhode Island. Tuvieron cuatro hijos, dos de los cuales murieron en la infancia. Después de la elección de su esposo para la presidencia en 1960, Jacqueline fue conocida por su muy publicitada restauración de la Casa Blanca y su énfasis en las artes y la cultura, así como por su estilo, elegancia y gracia. Southampton  is a town in southeastern Suffolk County, New York. Southampton was founded in 1640, when settlers from Lynn, Massachusetts established residence on lands obtained from local Shinnecock Indian Nation. The first settlers included eight men, one woman, and a boy who came ashore at Conscience Point.

From 1644, the colonists established an organized whale fishery, significant in the history of whaling as the first in New England.

—How did you go on your honeymoon?

—We went to Acapulco, Mexico.

—Did you go on fishing?

—Yes, my husband caught a ten-foot sailfish. The size a dolphin.

—A real prize catch. Did you help him haul it in?

—Not really, but I was in the boat. All I did was pour water on him.

—You pour water on him?

—Yes.

—By saying yes you mean the fish?

—No. My husband.

—On your husband?

—Because it was so hot in that broiling sun and he had to fight the fish for about 3 hours so I just lay there pouring water on him and giving Coca-Cola.

—Are you going to bring the fish to your home?

—I hope not.

—Well, now that you´re the wife of a senator, do you ever give your husband any political advice?

—No. I wouldn´t dare.

—Do you have any political ambitions for your husband, now that he has been mentioned as the possible nominee, vice presidential nominee?

—Just whatever he has for himself.

—Would you like to be the wife of a vice presidential nominee?

—Well, if he wanted to be the vice presidential nominee, I´d like being his wife.
