fugitives for a bounty. The
occupation has historically existed in many parts of the world. However, today,
it is found almost exclusively in most of the
United States and its former commonwealth, the Philippines, as the practice is illegal under the laws of most
other countries. Illinois, Kentucky,
Oregon and Wisconsin have
outlawed commercial bail bonds.
