Elizabeth

Former maid to Adolf Hitler interview
Elizabeth Kalhammer is now a 92 year old woman, yet she has a secret
story in her past. She used to work at Hitler's
private estate from 1943 to 1945. She worked in the laundry and sewing
rooms, did the cleaning and made the tea which Hitler liked to drink from a Nymphenburg
porcelain cup.

“When Hitler invaded Austria in 1938 everybody said life would be better. The soldiers
brought goulash.”
(About the
treatment of Jews) “It was so brutal.
The soldiers destroyed their beautiful shops. A man was shopping there. They
stuck a sign on his back: “This pig buys to the Jews.””
Then Hitler invaded Europe. “People stopped what they were doing to listen to Hitler´s speeches.”
At 19 she was
summoned to work at the Berghof.
“Eva Braun designed the uniforms we had
to wear.”
“I remember the
first thing I ate there. It was rice with mushrooms. It was the first time of
my life that I wasn´t hungry.”
“We had to work
in silence so as not to wake up Hitler. He wouldn´t get up until two in the
afternoon.”
